Introduction to ExCatholics

As former Catholics we are concerned mostly about equipping other former Catholics concerning the difference in what we were taught as Catholics versus what the Bible teaches. We are Bible teachers not because we wanted to be, but because God called us to be teachers of His Holy Word.

Contrary to what we were taught as Catholics that man’s tradition equals God’s word,(declared as dogma in 1545 at the counsel of Trent) God’s word clearly says man’s tradition voids God’s Word: (cf Matthew 15:1-9, Mark 7:1-9, Col 2:8, Isaiah 29:11-14)

Mark 7:5-8

5 The Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?”

6 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:
‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS ,
BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME .

7 BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME ,
TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN .’

8Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.

Growing up Catholic our time of study was given to Catechism with no Bibles present and our time of devotion was centered mostly around the Virgin Mary and many so-called saints. Now after many years of intense personal and group Bible study, we as Ex-Catholics are focused on what God has said, rather than the Catholic Catechism.

The Bible clearly reveals God’s Word from the beginning and informs us that God will share His glory with no man and we are not to give any devotion to any other creature besides His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Man’s tradition has clearly exalted the “creature”, Mary, to equal her Son the “Creator” in every capacity and in some cases trump over Him. This the Bible, God’s Word, does not do and this is one of the major reasons we are Ex-Catholics today.

Because we were Catholics, this website will inform you about Catholic teaching that is contrary to what the Bible says. We hope and pray that the truth of Jesus’ Word as he says in John 8:31-32 will set you free from all man made tradition and allow you to enter into the Kingdom of God today. This is a spiritual kingdom that cannot be seen with the human eyes. That is why Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:1-8, “you must be born again of spirit in order to enter and see the Kingdom.” Also, Peter who Catholics say was the first pope declares in I Peter 1:23, “for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.”

May God give you spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear is our prayer for you today.

We welcome your comments and frequently update this site with new material.

Sincerely,

Ex-Catholic Brethren
