Introduction to ExCatholics

As former Catholics we are concerned mostly about equipping other former Catholics concerning the difference in what we were taught as Catholics versus what the Bible teaches. We are Bible teachers not because we wanted to be, but because God called us to be teachers of His Holy Word.

Contrary to what we were taught as Catholics that man’s tradition equals God’s word,(declared as dogma in 1545 at the counsel of Trent) God’s word clearly says man’s tradition voids God’s Word: (cf Matthew 15:1-9, Mark 7:1-9, Col 2:8, Isaiah 29:11-14)

Mark 7:5-8

5 The Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?”

6 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:

8Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.

Growing up Catholic our time of study was given to Catechism with no Bibles present and our time of devotion was centered mostly around the Virgin Mary and many so-called saints. Now after many years of intense personal and group Bible study, we as Ex-Catholics are focused on what God has said, rather than the Catholic Catechism.

The Bible clearly reveals God’s Word from the beginning and informs us that God will share His glory with no man and we are not to give any devotion to any other creature besides His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Man’s tradition has clearly exalted the “creature”, Mary, to equal her Son the “Creator” in every capacity and in some cases trump over Him. This the Bible, God’s Word, does not do and this is one of the major reasons we are Ex-Catholics today.

Because we were Catholics, this website will inform you about Catholic teaching that is contrary to what the Bible says. We hope and pray that the truth of Jesus’ Word as he says in John 8:31-32 will set you free from all man made tradition and allow you to enter into the Kingdom of God today. This is a spiritual kingdom that cannot be seen with the human eyes. That is why Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:1-8, “you must be born again of spirit in order to enter and see the Kingdom.” Also, Peter who Catholics say was the first pope declares in I Peter 1:23, “for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.”

May God give you spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear is our prayer for you today.

We welcome your comments and frequently update this site with new material.

Ex-Catholic Brethren

Jesus Commanded, “Call No Man Father”

Matthew 23:9

9 “And do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.”

This teaching and our sign was inspired by what Catholic Commentators of the New American Bible wrote concerning Matthew 23:1-12. In these verses Jesus teaches the crowds and his disciples to call no man on earth Father and also forbidding other titles. Here is the statement made by the Catholic New American Bible Commentary, copyright 1991:

The Matthean Jesus forbids not only the titles but the spirit of superiority and pride that is shown by their acceptance.”

We were shocked to find this statement not in a protestant commentary, but in a Catholic commentary! “Matthean Jesus”, is this commentary suggesting that there is more than one Jesus? Is the Catholic church somehow suggesting that the Jesus found in the Gospel of Matthew is actually another Jesus than the one that they claim. Furthermore, this proves to us that at least someone in Rome knows that calling the priest “Father” and the pope “Holy Father” is wrong.

Peter Was Not the Rock

One of the biggest scandal’s of the Catholic Church’s history is removing God from his rock solid foundation and replacing Him with man. To do this they had to manipulate Scripture throughout the ages. In this teaching you will see that God is the Rock and not the Apostle Peter as the Catholic Church has taught in error for centuries. The prophet Isaiah quotes God as saying, “He knew of no other Rock”, besides Himself.

Isaiah 44:6-8

6 “Thus says the Lord , the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me.

7 ‘Who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him recount it to Me in order, From the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming And the events that are going to take place.

8 ‘Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none.’

The Penance Scandal

The Vatican is Guilty of Changing Repentance to Penance in Douay Rheims Bible

Jeremiah 8:8
“8 How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.”

In 1545, along with other sacraments, the sacrament of penance became dogma at the council of Trent.

In 1609, the Catholic Douay Rheims Bible was released with 50 out of 56 references to “repentance” changed to “penance”.

In 1986, the revised Catholic New American Bible corrected all the 1609 improperly used word “penance” and returned “repentance” back to it’s original place. Why was it ever altered?

Matthew 15:3
“3  And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?”

To Catholics over 50 years of age, who never heard the word “repentance”, but constantly heard “penance”. This manipulation of scripture caused us to substitute the only provision for man’s sin; the blood of Jesus Christ, with man made traditions (such as penance) which will never take away sin!

You Turn Things Around

This powerful message compares what Peter, (who is erroneously referred to as the first pope) wrote in comparison to today’s Catholic teaching & their manipulation of God’s Word.

Pope John Paul II Kissing a Copy of the Koran

Pope kissing the Koran

I know many of you reading this can probably not believe that the beloved Pope John Paul II actually kissed a copy of the Koran. If you desire to verify this, then you can click the link below and it will pull up a google search on the topic:

Pope John Paul II Kissing the Koran

If you are like I was when I first discovered this, then I am sure you are shocked at this revelation, to say the least, especially knowing that both Christians and Jews are condemned in this book. Not only are we condemned, but furthermore Muslims are commanded to kill all infidels:

“The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them.” Koran 9:30

“Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them.” Koran 47:4

“Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.” Koran 8:12

“Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them.” Koran 2:191

These are just a few of the direct quotes that demonstrate the brutality and terror that accompanies the Muslim faith. Islam is not merely one among many charitable faiths; it is a satanically inspired religion that is fueled by hate and a thirst for world dominion. It is a known bit of history that Muhammad would receive his revelations from an Angel and furthermore it is recorded that at times of prayer and while receiving revelations Muhammad would begin foaming at the mouth(sounds like the exorcist right?). Thankfully the Apostle Paul forewarned us in the New Testament about deceptive influences that would come upon the world.

Galatians 1:8

“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!”

If you are a Catholic, I am sure you are shocked to find out that one of your leaders not only acknowledged this as a “Holy Book”, but also put his seal of affection for it in the form of a kiss. However, if you are a good Catholic and have thoroughly studied your Catechism then this kind of gesture should have come as no surprise. Please reference the Catholic Catechism paragraph 841:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims.

“The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.

How can this be, how can the Catholics who claim to be Christian, who claim to follow the Bible, how can they embrace a religion that is so contrary to the God of the Bible that they profess to be following? Is this one of those non-essentials that you as a Catholic can just shrug off, or is this something that requires much more examination? This must raise the question, “do we really know who it is that we are following, are we being presented the God of the Bible or have we been unknowingly been following a counterfeit God?” If you didn’t know this about your own faith, please ask yourself what else do I not know. Again, we are not posting this information out of hate, or out of spite, but out of a love for God who saved us and out of love for the Catholic people who have had the wool pulled over their eyes for far far too long!

Bad News Alert

  • A.D. 1582 the Catholic Douay Rheims released the New Testament Scriptures and altered the word “repentance” to “penance” 50 out of 56 times.
  • A.D 1609 the Catholic Douay Rheims released the Old Testament Scriptures. They changed 30 of 64 verses translating the Hebrew word TSUR meaning “Rock” in reference to God alone. The translators took one word, TSUR, and translated it 22 different ways.
  • A.D. 1582 – 1970 the Douay Rheims Bible was the Catholic Church’s only recognized Scriptural authority. Imagine over 400 years of a man manipulated error filled Bible in the hands of Catholic spiritual leaders, to give to their followers. Error was given to all of our forefathers, prior to 1991. They robbed people of eternal life and gave them dead religion to replace it. This is truly the scandal of the ages.
  • In 1991 the New American Bible was corrected from all of the errors of the 1970 earlier addition. Sadly, the Catholic Church does not use the 1991 corrected addition in the daily readings at Mass, but instead they use the defective 1970 version. The reference for this information, posted below, can be found on the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops under the heading New American Bible: Is the New American Bible the only translation of Scriptures we can read from at Mass

Since May 19, 2002, the revised Lectionary, based on the New American Bible is the only English-language Lectionary that may be used at Mass in the dioceses of the United States, except for the current Lectionary for Masses with Children which remains in use.

The 1970 edition of the New American Bible is used in the Scripture readings and canticles of the Liturgy of the Hours (except the Benedictus, Magnificat, and Nunc dimittis.)
